According to Daily post, Manchester City have confirmed that departing manager Pep Guardiola will remain within the City Football Group after accepting a new position as Global Ambassador following his exit from the Premier League champions.
The announcement comes after Guardiola decided to step down as Manchester City manager after a historic 10-year spell at the Etihad Stadium.
In his new role, the 55-year-old will provide technical guidance and strategic advice to clubs under the City Football Group umbrella. He is also expected to participate in special football development projects and collaborations across the organisation’s global network.
Guardiola’s final match in charge of City will come against Aston Villa on Sunday, marking his 593rd game as manager and officially ending one of the most successful managerial eras in English football history.
The former FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach leaves City as the club’s longest-serving manager, surpassing the record previously held by Les McDowall.
During his decade in Manchester, Guardiola transformed City into a dominant force in English and European football. Under his leadership, the club won 20 major trophies, including six Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League in 2023.
Guardiola also guided City to multiple domestic cup triumphs and established a style of football widely praised for its attacking quality and tactical innovation.
His departure has continued to attract reactions across the football world, with pundits, former players and managers paying tribute to his achievements in England. Arsenal legend Paul Merson recently described Guardiola as the greatest manager in Premier League history, ranking him ahead of legendary former Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson.
