According to a report by Football Transfer on Thursday June 4, 2026, Manchester United have reportedly paused negotiations over a new contract for Bruno Fernandes. The Portuguese midfielder had been expected to receive improved terms after a superb campaign, but discussions have now been postponed until the end of 2026.
Fernandes’ future has attracted attention for months, though his performances last season strengthened his position at Old Trafford. The 31-year-old produced a record-breaking 21 Premier League assists, making him one of the competition’s standout performers.
Despite delaying talks, United remain confident Fernandes will stay. Before leaving for the World Cup, the midfielder reportedly informed club officials that he has no interest in departing and remains fully committed to the club.
The Red Devils also reassured their captain about their ambitions. Club executives outlined plans to strengthen the squad during the summer transfer window, with Atalanta midfielder Ederson expected to arrive soon in a deal worth €45 million.
Fernandes’ current contract runs until 2027 and includes a £55 million release clause. United believe that valuation is unlikely to be matched by interested clubs, reducing concerns over a potential transfer away.
Even if a new agreement is not reached before January, the club possesses an option to extend Fernandes’ stay by an additional year. That safeguard allows United to delay negotiations without immediately risking his future.
Reports suggest United’s cautious approach may have been influenced by Liverpool’s recent experience with Mohamed Salah. After receiving a new deal following an exceptional season, the Egyptian struggled for consistency and later clashed with management.
Previous reports claimed United were already progressing with renewal talks to fend off interest from Europe and Saudi Arabia. While accounts differ regarding negotiations, both sides remain aligned, making Fernandes’ departure from Old Trafford highly unlikely.
Favor As Higher Power?
(The hidden truth)
Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
