A former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Eze Madumere has announced his resignation from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Madumere who served the state during the administration of Governor Rochas Okorocha said his decision to dump the party is with immediate effect.
In a letter addressed to the APC chairman of Ezinihitte Ward, Mbiere Mbaitoli Local Government Area, the former Imo State Deputy Governor also said he resigned from the party after careful and deep personal reflection on his political journey and career.
The letter read in part, “I write to formally notify you of my decision to resign my membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) effective immediately.”
Also dated March 17, Madumere’s letter said resignation from the APC did not come easily, even though he plans to explore new paths in his political ambition.
Further appreciating the ruling party for the opportunity given to him, Madumere said he hopes to maintain “cordial relationship” with the party, its members and leaders.
“The decision, though difficult, has become necessary after a deep personal reflection on my political journey with the party. I sincerely feel it is time for me to explore new paths.
“It is my utmost desire and expectation that we all continue to maintain the cordial relationship that we have built over the years, in our collective desire to build a better Nigeria,” Madumere said.
While the former Deputy Governor did not state which political party he would be pitching his tent with, he urged the APC to bear with his decision as he explores other platforms.
