In a recent report by Daily Post on Thursday May 28, 2026, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, for the 2027 general election, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday held a meeting with former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi following the party’s recently concluded presidential primary.

The meeting came barely days after Atiku emerged winner of the ADC primary election, defeating Amaechi and other aspirants in a contest that attracted national attention ahead of the next presidential race.

Amaechi had earlier rejected the outcome of the primary before the official declaration of results, alleging that the process was characterized by irregularities and lacked transparency. His camp also raised concerns over the conduct of the exercise and the collation of votes.

Despite the disagreement that followed the election, Atiku, during his acceptance speech after securing the party’s ticket, appealed to all contestants and party stakeholders to unite ahead of the 2027 elections. He stressed the need for reconciliation within the ADC and called for collective efforts to strengthen the party’s chances against other major political parties.

Sources within the party indicated that Thursday’s meeting may not be unconnected with ongoing consultations aimed at resolving internal grievances after the primary. The move is also believed to be part of Atiku’s broader strategy to consolidate support within the ADC and prevent divisions that could weaken the party before the presidential election.

Although the details of the closed-door meeting were not immediately disclosed, party loyalists see the engagement as a significant step towards healing tensions generated by the outcome of the primary election.

Neither Atiku nor Amaechi addressed journalists after the meeting, leaving political observers speculating about possible agreements reached between both leaders.

The ADC leadership has continued to urge party members to remain united and focused as preparations gradually begin for the 2027 general elections across the country.

(The hidden truth)

Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor.
