According to a video posted on the official YouTube channel of Channels Television on Monday, May 11, 2026, Rivers APC Publicity Secretary, Chibike Ikenga, reacted to reports surrounding the screening of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara ahead of the party’s governorship processes.
Ikenga dismissed speculations that the governor was treated differently during the screening exercise. He stated that there was no evidence to support claims that Governor Fubara was asked to “take a bow and leave” after appearing before the screening committee.
Speaking during the interview, Ikenga said, “We have not seen any video where a governor was asked to bow and leave; if that happened, we should be able to conduct a comparative analysis.”
He explained that party members and observers were still relying on assumptions because there was no official confirmation about what transpired during the screening. According to him, the APC leadership would be in a better position to clarify the situation if necessary.
Ikenga also maintained that the Rivers APC remains united despite ongoing political speculations ahead of the 2027 governorship election. He added that the party would continue to follow its constitution and internal democratic processes in selecting candidates for future elections.
