Temitope Atiba, a legal practitioner and prominent member of the All Progressives Congress, has raised a critical alarm regarding the controversial governorship primary election in Bauchi State. He strongly emphasized that the internal friction within the state chapter could severely jeopardize the political fortunes of the ruling party in future national polls.
According to a video posted on the Official YouTube channel of Arise News on Sunday May 31, 2026, while analyzing the deep internal crisis and the major implications for the party with the interviewer, he stated, “Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is coming up from the Northeast, which is why every single vote the party can gather toward the next election must be protected.”
The legal expert expressed deep concerns that the declaration of fictitious results and the alleged imposition of an anointed candidate could trigger a massive wave of defections. He warned that if the party leadership fails to address these grievances, frustrated members might deliberately work against the interest of the APC during major national elections.
Furthermore, Atiba pointed out that the strategic nature of the Northeast region leaves no room for political complacency or internal sabotage. He urged the national working committee to meticulously look into the petitions filed by aggrieved aspirants to prevent a total collapse of the party structure before the general elections begin.
