In a recent interview on Channels TV, on Saturday, May 30, 2026, Baba Yusuf, strategist, policy advisor, and Group CEO of Global Investment & Trade Co (GITC), shared his views on opposition politics and the emerging dynamics ahead of the 2027 general election. The discussion focused on the outcome of recent political developments within opposition circles and the implications for Nigeria’s democratic process.

Commenting on the contest for political leadership within the opposition, Yusuf argued that electoral politics must be approached with realism rather than emotion. He maintained that political actors are entitled to pursue their ambitions within the framework of the law and party processes.

Speaking during the interview, Yusuf stated, “Atiku has the right to contest the election; whether we like it or not.” He explained that political disagreements should not overshadow the fact that democratic processes require participants to respect outcomes, even when they are unpopular.
