According to Daily Post on May 28th, an ambassador Blessing Fubara, younger brother of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Rivers State under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, the governorship aspirant said his ambition was driven by the desire to restore economic growth, political stability and public confidence in the state. He described Rivers as a state facing hardship, loss of investment opportunities and growing political uncertainty, stressing the need for renewed leadership and direction.
Blessing Fubara presented himself as a capable and energetic candidate prepared to rebuild the state and improve the welfare of residents across the 23 local government areas. He called on supporters to mobilise massively during the election period in order to secure victory for the party.
The aspirant also pledged to serve only one four-year term if elected governor. According to him, the decision was aimed at preserving the state’s existing political rotation arrangement, particularly the turn of Rivers South-East Senatorial District in the governance structure of the state.
His declaration adds another dimension to the growing political activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
