In a recent interview on Trust TV, on Thursday, June 4, 2026, former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed spoke about the future of opposition politics in Nigeria and the prospects of cooperation among political leaders ahead of the 2027 general elections. During the discussion, he reflected on the challenges facing opposition parties and the need for greater unity in efforts to provide an alternative to the current administration.
Baba-Ahmed addressed the recent developments within opposition circles, including disagreements that have emerged among prominent political figures. Despite these differences, he maintained that there is still room for dialogue and collaboration among leaders who share a common objective of changing the country’s political direction.
Speaking during the interview, Baba-Ahmed stated, “If Atiku and others agree, I still want us to meet in one camp and push out the BAT government.” He made the remark while emphasizing his continued belief in the importance of opposition unity despite the setbacks experienced by previous coalition efforts.
According to Baba-Ahmed, political alliances remain an important part of democratic competition, particularly when parties and leaders seek to challenge an incumbent administration. He argued that cooperation among opposition figures could create a stronger platform for addressing issues that concern many Nigerians.
The former senator noted that disagreements are common in politics, especially among influential politicians with differing ambitions and strategies. However, he stressed that such differences should not prevent leaders from exploring opportunities for collaboration when national interests are at stake.
Baba-Ahmed further explained that effective political partnerships require mutual respect, compromise, and a willingness to prioritize collective goals. He suggested that opposition leaders should focus on areas of agreement rather than allowing personal or partisan considerations to dominate discussions.
He also emphasized the need for politicians to present practical solutions to Nigeria’s economic and security challenges. According to him, voters are increasingly interested in policies that can improve living standards, strengthen institutions, and promote national development.
He concluded by expressing hope that opposition leaders would continue engaging with one another in pursuit of common objectives. Baba-Ahmed said that unity, strategic planning, and a shared commitment to democratic progress could play a significant role in shaping the political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
Favor As Higher Power?
(The hidden truth)
Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
