Former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, has reaffirmed his strong relationship with the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, despite recent political developments surrounding opposition alliances and coalition discussions in Nigeria.
Speaking during an interview on Trust TV, Baba-Ahmed emphasized that his respect and admiration for Obi remain unchanged. He described the former Anambra State governor as someone he continues to hold in high regard and expressed optimism about the possibility of working together again in the near future.
While discussing his relationship with Obi, Baba-Ahmed shifted attention to broader concerns about the state of opposition politics in the country. He questioned the commitment of many politicians who are commonly identified as opposition figures, arguing that some appear more focused on securing political positions than on providing effective checks on government actions.
According to him, the responsibility of a genuine opposition extends beyond election campaigns and political appointments. He maintained that opposition leaders should consistently scrutinize government policies, challenge perceived shortcomings, and hold public officials accountable in order to strengthen democratic governance.
Baba-Ahmed also stated that prominent opposition figures, including Peter Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, should have sustained the level of political engagement and activism that followed the 2023 general election. He argued that continuous pressure on issues such as alleged constitutional violations and governance concerns could have contributed to improved accountability and better leadership outcomes.
Furthermore, he suggested that a more active and persistent opposition movement might have helped draw greater attention to Nigeria’s security challenges, including cases of kidnapping and abductions that have continued to affect various parts of the country.
Reiterating the cordial nature of his relationship with Obi, Baba-Ahmed expressed confidence in their continued cooperation and future political engagement.
In his words, “Are you forgetting Peter Obi was boss, he’s still my boss, we still have good relationships and I hope we can somehow work together, in the very near future.”
Favor As Higher Power?
(The hidden truth)
Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
