Beady Nnanna, a producer and publisher, told The PUNCH that her sister, Blessing Okolie, lost her life due to alleged medical negligence by a doctor who reportedly left a pair of scissors in her stomach during fibroid surgery at a private hospital in Lagos State.
When asked to talk about herself, she said that she was a media personality, the producer of Beadysworld TV, and the publisher of Beadysworld Blog News. She added that she was also an influencer and social activist.
Speaking on her relationship with the late Blessing Okolie, she stated that the deceased was her sister.
On her age, she said that Blessing was 44 years old.
Explaining what led to her initial hospital visit, she said that her sister had a very large fibroid that made her appear pregnant, as people often mistook her condition for pregnancy. She noted that the fibroid had been disturbing her and that she was married, but her husband left her because of the condition, as she could not bear a child.
She further explained that when their mother once contacted the husband to understand the problem in the marriage, he had responded that they were aware Blessing had fibroid issues, making it seem like it was a crime. She added that the man showed no concern for nearly two years, which worried her sister and made her determined to undergo surgery in hopes of conceiving.
She stated that in December 2025, they initially took her to the Air Force Base Hospital, but her sister declined treatment there. According to her, Blessing insisted on going to a particular hospital in Igoke Estate around Abule Egba in Lagos State, claiming that the facility was good and had been recommended by someone who had previously undergone surgery there.
However, she said she opposed the decision because she felt the hospital did not meet proper standards and could not understand why her sister would choose it over a better-equipped hospital.
Further talking, she said, “On March 27, 2026, she came to my house, and we drove to the hospital. Meanwhile, that was the first time I would visit that medical centre. We saw the doctor standing outside, but I was not happy, and I was not satisfied with what I saw there.
“Blessing kept telling me that I should not bother myself and that the doctor was good. After a while, they gave us a ward where we slept till the next morning.”
