According to a report by the Times of Israel on Thursday June 4, 2026, the European Union has approved a fresh 100 million euro ($116 million) package aimed at strengthening Lebanon’s armed forces, as international actors continue efforts to stabilize a fragile ceasefire environment along the Israel-Lebanon border.
The decision comes at a tense moment, with renewed diplomatic focus on preventing a slide back into full-scale conflict. EU officials say the support is intended to reinforce state institutions in Lebanon at a time when security conditions remain uncertain and sporadic clashes continue to test the limits of the recent agreement.
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas described the ceasefire as an opening that should not be wasted, warning that the situation on the ground remains fragile. She pointed to recent incidents, including the killing of a UN peacekeeper and continued cross-border exchanges, as evidence that calm is far from guaranteed.
“The latest ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon offers a chance to prevent a return to full-scale hostilities,” she said.
Kallas also emphasized that long-term stability, in the EU’s view, depends on strengthening Lebanon’s national institutions rather than relying on temporary arrangements. According to her, reinforcing the Lebanese state and its security forces is central to reducing the influence of armed groups operating outside government control.
In her comments, she stressed that the goal is to ensure the Lebanese state regains full authority over security matters, including control over the use of force across its territory. That, she suggested, is the only sustainable way to limit the risks posed by Hezbollah’s military presence.
The newly approved funding adds to previous European assistance, which has totaled around 82 million euros in recent years. EU officials say the latest package reflects both continuity and urgency, as regional tensions remain unresolved despite ongoing diplomatic efforts.
Favor As Higher Power?
(The hidden truth)
Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
