According to a report by Al Jazeera on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held talks with Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsen Naqvi during the minister’s latest visit to Iran, as both countries discussed regional developments and ongoing diplomatic efforts involving Tehran and Washington.
According to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, the meeting focused on the status of continued negotiations between Iran and the United States, alongside broader issues related to regional security, cooperation, and political stability.
During the discussions, Pezeshkian expressed support for Pakistan’s efforts aimed at strengthening stability across the region and encouraging cooperation between neighboring countries amid rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
The Iranian president also emphasized the importance of maintaining diplomatic engagement during a period marked by increasing international concern over regional conflicts and security challenges.
Tasnim reported that both sides exchanged views on the need for continued communication and constructive dialogue as part of efforts to reduce tensions and prevent further instability.
Naqvi reaffirmed Pakistan’s position in favor of diplomacy and peaceful engagement, stressing the need for continued discussions between countries facing political disagreements and regional disputes.
“The importance of continuing the path of dialogue and understanding” was highlighted during the meeting, according to the report published by the Iranian news agency.
The visit marks another high-level engagement between Iranian and Pakistani officials as both governments seek to strengthen bilateral relations and coordinate on regional issues affecting security and political cooperation.
