Elijah Ayodele, leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has cautioned Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, against contesting the governorship election in Adamawa State.
In a statement released on Friday, the cleric predicted that Ribadu would lose if he decides to run for the position, advising him instead to concentrate on his current national responsibilities rather than pursuing a gubernatorial ambition.
Ayodele argued that the political environment in Adamawa is currently unfavorable for Ribadu, warning that a bid for the governorship could harm his reputation and weaken his political influence. He also suggested that underlying political forces and local dynamics would work against the former anti-corruption chief if he proceeds.
He was quoted as saying that Ribadu should avoid the race if he wants to preserve his relevance, insisting that a run for the office would not end in victory.
Ribadu, who previously served as chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), remains a key figure in Nigeria’s political scene, having contested for the presidency in the past and held several important national roles.
