Iran Planing to Boycott New US Talks
Iran signalled it would not join upcoming talks with the United States, according to state media reports. The decision came shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans to send negotiators to Islamabad.
Iranian broadcaster IRIB, citing official sources, confirmed there were no arrangements for participation in the next round of discussions. The development pointed to renewed uncertainty over diplomatic engagement between both countries.
Eight Children Die in US Violence Shooting
Eight children were killed in a shooting early Sunday in Shreveport, in what authorities described as a domestic violence incident. Police said the attack occurred shortly after 6:00 a.m. across three homes, making it the deadliest mass shooting in the United States in more than two years, according to the Gun Violence Archive. The victims were aged between one and 14, while two other people were also shot.
A police corporal with the Shreveport Police Department, Chris Bordelon, told reporters that the suspect, an adult male, carried out the shootings before carjacking a vehicle and fleeing. Police later shot and killed him after a chase, and investigators believe he was the only gunman involved, adding that some of the children were his descendants.
ADC warns against reintegration of ex-terrorists without prosecution
The African Democratic Congress warned that reintegrating former terrorists without proper prosecution could fuel further violence. The party said such actions risk sending the wrong message to victims and individuals considering violent acts.
It criticised the absence of a clear framework for screening, prosecution, and monitoring of those reintegrated. The party stressed that failure to ensure accountability could weaken public trust and undermine efforts to combat insurgency.
