According to a report by The Jerusalem Post on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, Iran’s parliament is preparing to vote on a controversial bill that would reportedly offer a €50 million reward to anyone who kills US President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and a senior US military commander, according to comments made by Iranian lawmakers and state media.
Ebrahim Azizi, chairman of Iran’s parliamentary national security and foreign policy commission, told Iranian state television on Thursday that the proposed legislation would formalise what he described as “reciprocal action” against senior American and Israeli figures.
The bill, titled “Reciprocal action by military and security forces of the Islamic Republic,” is reportedly part of a broader legislative push aimed at codifying Iran’s response to perceived threats and assassinations targeting its leadership.
Azizi said the proposal reflects Iran’s stance following the killing of senior Iranian figures, claiming the measure is intended as retaliation. He also accused US and Israeli leaders of hostile actions against Iran.
“We believe the vile president of the United States, the ominous and disgraceful Zionist prime minister, and the CENTCOM commander must be targeted and subjected to reciprocal action,” Azizi said in the televised interview, referring to US Central Command leadership.
He further stated that Iran reserves the right to respond to such incidents, adding: “This is our right. Just as our Imam was martyred, the president of the United States must be dealt with by any Muslim or free person.”
His remarks were echoed by Mahmoud Nabavian, an Iranian cleric and member of parliament, who confirmed that the bill is expected to be brought forward for a vote. Nabavian also claimed that threats had been made against Iran’s supreme leadership and warned that any attack on the country’s top figures would trigger what he described as a “devastating” response.
The proposal comes amid heightened tensions between Iran, the United States, and Israel, particularly following ongoing regional conflicts and repeated exchanges of military and political threats.
Iranian-linked groups have previously been accused of offering financial incentives for attacks against US officials. One such group, Blood Covenant, reportedly raised millions of dollars as a bounty targeting Donald Trump following US-Iran tensions and military strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. A US-based research organisation monitoring extremist messaging has previously described the group as operating in alignment with Iranian state interests, a claim Tehran has consistently denied.
US authorities have also alleged multiple plots linked to Iranian operatives targeting American political figures. In 2024, the US Department of Justice charged an Iranian national in connection with an alleged assassination plot reportedly directed by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Tensions further escalated earlier this year when US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth claimed that an Iranian official involved in an alleged plot against Trump had been killed in a US airstrike. “Iran tried to kill President Trump and President Trump got the last laugh,” Hegseth said during a press briefing in March.
