According to report by The Nation News on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has praised the recently concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primaries in Delta State, describing them as the most well-organised since the party was established in the state.
Keyamo congratulated Senators Ifeanyi Okowa, Ede Dafinone, and Joel-Onowapo Thomas for emerging victorious, saying their victories were well-earned and reflected the will of party members.
He noted that the exercise was largely peaceful, transparent, and well-attended, with what he described as a strong turnout of genuine APC members who voted at the ward level across the state.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Keyamo said the primaries demonstrated significant improvement in the party’s internal democratic processes in Delta State.
He stated that, as a founding member and one of the early senatorial aspirants of the APC in Delta since 2013, he could confidently say that this was the best-conducted primary election the party had ever held in the state.
The minister also emphasized the need for unity within the party, urging both winners and losers to embrace reconciliation and work together ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, those who lost the primaries should accept the outcome in good faith and support the victorious candidates for the overall success of the party.
He further encouraged the winners to be generous in victory by reaching out to their opponents and integrating them into their political structures, stressing that unity remains essential for electoral success.
Keyamo also commended Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for providing inclusive leadership that contributed to the smooth conduct of the primaries.
He equally praised President Bola Tinubu for encouraging internal democracy and allowing a fair electoral process within the party nationwide.
The minister added that aspirants who attempted to bypass grassroots structures by relying solely on influence from the national level were ultimately rejected by party members.
He urged APC members across the country to remain focused, united, and committed as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.
