According to a report by Daily Post on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, a Veteran journalist and former presidential aspirant, Dele Momodu, has reacted to remarks made against former Vice President Atiku Abubakar by former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi.
Amaechi, during a recent interview on Trust TV, criticized Atiku over his position on presidential zoning, stating that the former vice president does not support the arrangement.
The comments came amid political activities within the African Democratic Congress ahead of the party’s presidential primary process.
Both Amaechi and Atiku are seeking the presidential ticket of the ADC as preparations continue within the opposition party.
Their ambitions have reportedly intensified internal discussions among party leaders and supporters regarding the direction of the contest.
Reports further indicated that some influential figures within the ADC had urged Amaechi to step down in support of Atiku in an attempt to strengthen the party ahead of the election.
Despite the pressure, the former Rivers governor was said to have rejected the proposal and insisted on remaining in the race.
Speaking during the Trust TV interview, Amaechi also dismissed the possibility of a consensus arrangement within the party.
He maintained that he was confident of securing victory at the primary election and expressed belief in his chances of clinching the ADC presidential ticket through the contest.
Reacting to the development during an interview on Channels Television, Momodu appealed to Amaechi to reduce the tension surrounding the disagreement.
He described Atiku as a strong and experienced presidential contender whose political influence and national reach would make him a difficult candidate to defeat in the race for the party’s ticket.
He said, “Mr. Amaechi, in the name of Almighty God, should please cool his temper.”
