A video showing a tense exchange between former Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio over security concerns has surfaced online, drawing attention to unresolved issues surrounding a past kidnapping incident in Kebbi State.
The video, which was posted on the YouTube channel of TV Platinum on June 3, 2026, captured Oshiomhole raising questions about the Senate’s response to the incident and the lack of action following an earlier resolution passed by lawmakers.
Speaking during the session, Oshiomhole recalled a kidnapping that occurred in Kebbi State and expressed concern over reports that military personnel stationed at a school were allegedly ordered to withdraw before the attack took place. According to him, the withdrawal created a security gap that was exploited by kidnappers, who reportedly abducted students shortly afterward.
Oshiomhole stated that the governor of Kebbi State had publicly lamented the withdrawal of the military personnel and the consequences that followed. He reminded the Senate President that the Senate, under Akpabio’s leadership, had passed a resolution directing the military high command to disclose the identity of the officer responsible for ordering the withdrawal.
According to Oshiomhole, despite the Senate’s resolution, the name of the officer has not been made public, raising concerns about accountability and transparency in the handling of security-related matters.
“We were shocked about one kidnapping that took place in Kebbi State. The governor of Kebbi State cried that the military personnel in the school were ordered to be withdrawn. And after about 40 minutes, the children were carted away. This Senate, under your leadership, passed a resolution that the military high command should disclose the name of the officer but it has not been done,” Oshiomhole said.
The remarks have renewed discussions about security accountability and the implementation of resolutions passed by the National Assembly.
