Babachir Lawal, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, has stated that a governor once paid 50 million naira to prevent him from having access to former President Muhammadu Buhari in Aso Rock Villa
In a video shared by Channels Television, Lawal said despite the governor’s effort, his relationship with Buhari remained strong. He said Buhari loved to communicate with him so they developed a private way of staying in touch.
Lawal stated that he and Buhari often communicated on the phone in the early hours of the morning, without interference.
In Lawal’s words: “I know one governor that paid 50 million naira to make sure I did not have access to the president at that time. But the level of our relationship was such that he would like to see me, so we developed a technique of communication. I know he wakes up to pray in the morning and he knows my routine too, that is when I wake up to do my Bible studies and other things. So that is when we communicate by phone”
