According to a report by DAILY POST on Friday 10th July 2026, the proposed N1.854 trillion budget for the 2026 fiscal year has been presented to the Rivers State House of Assembly by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
With improved revenue from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) and continued economic growth in Rivers State, the governor claims that the spending plan, which is titled the “Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development,” is 24.49 percent higher than the state’s 2025 budget.Favor And Life Battles? The state anticipates receiving capital revenues of N382.48 billion, with Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) estimated at N487.61 billion and FAAC allocations at N936.05 billion, according to the plan.
Out of the total proposed recurrent spending of N413.11 billion, Fubara divided it as follows: N154.7 billion for workers’ pay, N15.2 billion for recruiting new staff, and N36.7 billion for the operating expenditures of MDAs.
Gratuities and pensions would each receive N20 billion from the budget, with an extra N5 billion reserved for insurance.
The governor has also announced a 50% increase in overhead funding for MDAs. He stated that this move aims to assist government agencies in meeting their increasing operational expenses and to settle outstanding salary arrears for state civil servants.See more
