According to a video posted on the official YouTube channel of Arise News on Friday, July 10, 2026, APC House of Representatives candidate, Razaq Obe, alleged that the party’s decision to substitute his name after the primary election did not follow the procedures outlined in the APC’s guidelines.
Obe maintained that he emerged as the valid winner of the primary election conducted in his constituency, stating that the election committee officially declared him victorious and issued him the necessary documentation. Expressing his dissatisfaction with the substitution, Obe said, “They replaced my name with someone else’s, and the person they announced did not even appeal to the Appeal Committee.” He insisted that the replacement lacked a legal basis because, according to him, the individual whose name eventually appeared did not challenge the primary election results through the party’s internal appeal process.
The APC candidate further questioned how the National Working Committee could justify the substitution without following the established procedures. He argued that any grievance arising from the primary should have been handled by the Appeal Committee before any further action was taken.
Obe appealed to President Bola Tinubu, as the leader of the APC, to intervene and ensure that the party respects its own rules. He warned that ignoring due process could weaken members’ confidence and negatively affect the party’s chances in future elections.See more
