Shehu Sani, a renowned human rights activist and former Kaduna central senatorial district lawmaker has taken to his official X handle to make a thoughtful remark regarding the loss suffered by the Morrocan national team at the hands of France at the ongoing 2026 FIFA world cup.
According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle on Friday July 10th, 2026 he pointed out that the defeat was an indication that time was due for a deep reflection on African football.

The loss by the Atlas Lions of Morocco saw them joined the likes of Egypt, Senegal, Algeria, Cape Verde and Ghana who exited the tournament at the earlier stages.
While the Atlas Lions were the only team to progress to the last eight, other African teams performed below expectations, performances which were heavily criticized.
However, Senator Shehu Sani in his remarks, opined that the performances of African teams were not ordinary given the array of talents in the teams.
He maintained that time was due to ask honest questions regarding the way forward for African football, as he maintained that the global stage cannot be continuously dominated by European and Latin American teams.See more
