Senior Special Adviser on Media to former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Atiku Abubakar, Paul Ibe, has reacted to recent remarks made by Yoruba nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, regarding the wave of abductions in Oyo State.
Igboho’s comments, which have generated widespread discussion across social media and political circles, centered on his claim that he possesses information about the individuals allegedly responsible for several kidnapping incidents in the state.
The activist, known for his advocacy for the rights of the Yoruba people and his calls for self-determination, reportedly stated that politicians were behind the abductions taking place in parts of Oyo State. He further maintained that he could identify those involved if given the opportunity to do so.
Reacting to the development through a statement shared on his official X account on Thursday, June 4, 2026, Paul Ibe described Igboho’s revelation as one that should not be dismissed lightly. According to him, the seriousness of the allegations warrants official scrutiny, particularly in light of the ongoing concerns over insecurity and the safety of residents.
Ibe argued that Sunday Igboho should be invited by the appropriate authorities to provide further information regarding his claims. He emphasized that any credible lead capable of helping security agencies identify those responsible for the kidnappings should be investigated without delay.
The media adviser also stressed the importance of exhausting every available option to secure the freedom of abducted victims, including schoolchildren and teachers who have been affected by kidnapping incidents in recent times. He noted that ensuring the safe return of victims must remain a priority for both federal and state authorities.
