BREAKING: Datti Baba-Ahmed Dismisses Criticism, Says “The Guilty Are Afraid”

Former Labour Party vice presidential candidate Dr. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed has insisted that backlash to his comments on the 2027 elections should not be described as trouble, stressing instead that the guilty are the ones who become afraid when the truth is told.

Speaking in an interview with Channels Television, Datti Baba-Ahmed was asked about heavy reactions that followed his past appearances, including regulators going after the program.

He dismissed the characterization of such reactions as trouble, arguing that if someone gets agitated over truthful remarks, it means they have done something wrong. He maintained that his statements have always been clean, honest comments.

When asked whether he sees himself as a truth bearer, he said Nigerians should be the ones to judge, adding that he simply aims to tell the truth. When asked if his past predictions had materialized, he pointed to his warning that allowing the 2027 election to go on the way it is going would mark the end of democracy, a position he said he still holds.

He accused the President Bola Tinubu administration of prioritizing the destabilization of other political parties over its constitutional duty of providing security and welfare under Section 14-2b.

According to Baba-Ahmed, Nigeria is a rich country, and if its resources were deployed against weaker parties, it would be surprising that any party still stands. He argued that other political parties have been destroyed at the expense of improving security, growing the economy, and stopping corruption.

In his words, “I don’t call it trouble. The guilty are afraid. Put it that way. The guilty, I mean, if you say the truth and somebody gets agitated, then they’ve done something wrong. So I don’t call it trouble. It’s clean, honest comments made.”
