According To Daily Post On Monday 18th Of May 2026,Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has officially announced his entry into politics, declaring his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 elections.
The actor disclosed that he will contest under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, for the Bwari/AMAC Federal Constituency in Abuja.
His announcement, which surfaced in a now-viral video, has already generated discussions among supporters and political observers as preparations continue ahead of the next election cycle.
Speaking in the video, Ike said his decision to seek public office was driven by a desire to contribute directly to national development and bring meaningful change to governance.
“I’m running for the Federal House of Representatives under Bwari/AMAC Constituency in Abuja and we want to make a federal statement,” he said.
The actor further explained that his years in the entertainment industry had given him the opportunity to connect with Nigerians, adding that he now wants to channel his influence into active public service.
According to him, the country requires greater citizen participation and stronger commitment from the people to shape the nation’s future.
“If I’ve made you happy as Nigerians, I want to step into the real thing right now. Let’s block those boys wey think say na dem get power,” he stated.
Ike also urged Nigerians to become more involved in the democratic process, stressing that political change cannot happen without active participation from voters.
He expressed disappointment with the attitude of citizens toward elections, calling on people to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of future polls.
