According to reports by Anadolu News Agency on Monday, May 18, 2026, Iran has announced the establishment of a new maritime governing body aimed at overseeing operations in the Strait of Hormuz, a move widely viewed as an attempt to strengthen its administrative and strategic influence over one of the world’s most critical shipping corridors.
