Former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, has questioned the decision of former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, to leave the Labour Party over its internal crisis.
According to a report by Punch on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, speaking during an interview, Baba-Ahmed said he initially agreed to become Obi’s running mate before the 2023 presidential election out of sympathy for both Obi and Nigeria. According to him, several prominent politicians had earlier declined to join Obi’s presidential bid, prompting him to step in and support the campaign.
Baba-Ahmed, who recently left the Labour Party for the Peoples Redemption Party, stressed that his political decisions are independent and not tied to Obi.
He argued that internal party disputes are common in politics and should not automatically lead to defection. Referring to the Labour Party crisis involving Julius Abure, Baba-Ahmed said Obi should have remained in the party and worked to resolve the issues rather than moving elsewhere.
The former senator also questioned Obi’s confidence that leadership challenges would not emerge in his new political platforms. He specifically mentioned former Senate President David Mark in the ADC and Seriake Dickson in the NDC, arguing that disagreements can occur in any political party.
Baba-Ahmed maintained that while he once supported Obi, the former presidential candidate does not determine his political future, insisting that he remains politically independent.
In his words, “I mean, if (Julius) Abure was a problem, what makes him think the David Mark of ADC will not be a problem? What makes him think the chairman of Seriake (Senator Seriake Dickson) of NDC will not be a problem? So it’s the same thing wherever you go. Stay here and fix this problem.”
Favor As Higher Power?
(The hidden truth)
Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
