According to a report by Daily Post on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, former Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, has publicly declared his preferred presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections, stating that he will support Peter Obi.

Omo-Agege made the announcement during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show, where he also addressed political tensions in Delta State and responded to allegations and rumours circulating about his political intentions.

According to him, his support for the former Labour Party presidential candidate reflects his current political alignment and personal conviction, adding that his loyalty remains with his party despite recent political realignments.

He also claimed that supporters of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori are uneasy about his growing political influence, alleging that this has led to attempts to spread misinformation about him.

Omo-Agege insisted that he remains committed to party discipline and internal democratic processes, noting that his political conduct has remained consistent over the years regardless of the platform he belongs to.

Reflecting on his political history, he recalled his time in the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that he was fully committed to supporting President Bola Tinubu during that period. He added that he intends to bring the same level of dedication to his current political engagements.

Speaking on the controversy surrounding party primaries, Omo-Agege dismissed suggestions that he lost internal contests within his new political platform, insisting that his emergence was legitimate.

“If you think I lost the primary election, then I have land to sell to you. I won the primaries,” he said during the interview.

He further alleged that political supporters of Governor Oborevwori were intimidated by his presence in Delta State politics, suggesting that there is apprehension about his influence ahead of future elections.

“They are afraid of me and what I will do during the elections,” he stated, while describing what he termed coordinated attempts to undermine his reputation.

Omo-Agege also reaffirmed his political identity as one driven by loyalty and active participation, describing himself as a “political actor” who fully commits to whichever party he belongs to at any given time.
