According to a report by The Times of Israel on May 19, 2026, Turkish counter-terror police arrested 110 individuals on suspicion of supporting the Islamic State group during a major operation focused primarily on Istanbul.
Authorities accused the suspects of organizing classes within illegal associations, teaching young children ISIS ideology, collecting funds for the organization, and attempting to recruit additional members into the group.
The coordinated effort, led by the Istanbul chief prosecutor’s office, involved simultaneous raids across three provinces centered in the largest city.
During these operations, security forces seized four rifles along with 90 cartridges, various documents, and important digital materials that could provide further evidence.
This recent action follows another significant crackdown last week in which police detained 324 people suspected of links to IS across 47 provinces, according to statements from the interior ministry.
The intensified efforts highlight Turkey’s ongoing commitment to dismantling terror networks operating within its borders. Officials continue to monitor and disrupt activities that pose threats to national security and public safety.
In a related incident on April 7, security personnel engaged in a shootout outside the Israeli consulate in Istanbul, resulting in the death of one gunman and injuries to two others.
