Shiroro Bloodshed: Sani Says 40+ Dead, Ndume Claims 28, Ningi Reports 407 Women Affected

Senator Abdul Ningi has raised fresh concerns over Nigeria’s worsening security situation, highlighting recent deadly attacks and mass abductions across parts of the country.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, the lawmaker pointed to multiple reports from fellow senators detailing the scale of violence affecting communities, particularly in northern Nigeria. His remarks come amid growing public anxiety over the frequency of attacks by armed groups and the apparent strain on security agencies.

Quoting specific instances, Ningi said, “One of the last time Senator Sani reported over 40 people killed in Shiroro. Senator Ali Ndume reported 28 people and including the abduction of 407 women that are still in captivity.” The senator referenced accounts by Shehu Sani and Ali Ndume as evidence of the severity of the crisis, noting that such figures reflect a broader pattern of insecurity that demands urgent attention.

Ningi stressed that these incidents are not isolated, but part of a sustained wave of violence affecting rural communities, where residents often face killings, kidnappings, and displacement. He warned that without decisive and coordinated action, the situation could further deteriorate, undermining public confidence in governance and national stability.

Security challenges in areas such as Shiroro in Niger State have persisted, with reports of attacks on villages, infrastructure, and travelers. Lawmakers and analysts have repeatedly called for improved intelligence gathering, better-equipped security forces, and stronger collaboration between federal and local authorities.
