SHOCKING: Ruto Says Nigerian English Is So Strong “You Might Need a Translator”

According to a report by Daily Trust on Thursday, April 23, 2026, Kenyan President William Ruto has reacted to comments made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his visit to Bayelsa State, where the Nigerian leader claimed that Nigerians are better off than citizens in Kenya.

Speaking in Yenagoa while commissioning a 60MW power plant and the landmark Angiama–Oporoma Bridge, Tinubu acknowledged the bite of rising fuel prices but urged Nigerians to be thankful, suggesting that countries like Kenya were grappling with even deeper economic crises.

He stated that despite the hardship, Nigerians should look around and recognize their relative advantage.

In his response that has since gone viral, President Ruto dismissed the comparison, shifting the focus to Kenya’s infrastructure and human capital.

Ruto mocked the notion of Nigeria being better off by highlighting Kenya’s more reliable electricity supply and superior road network.

He further took a swipe at Nigeria’s linguistic style, claiming that Kenyans speak the best English in the world and suggesting that a translator is often required to understand a Nigerian speaker due to their use of pidgin and local dialects.

“Our education is good. Our English is good. We speak the best English in the world. If you listen to a Nigerian speak English, you’ll need a translator. We’ve the best human capital anywhere in the world,” Ruto said.

The exchange has ignited a firestorm on social media, with citizens of both nations debating their respective economic realities.

While Tinubu’s remarks were intended to offer perspective on global fuel price hikes, driven partly by tensions in the Middle East, critics have labeled the comparison insensitive.

Many observers have noted that both nations are currently battling severe cost-of-living pressures, arguing that the leaders should focus on regional collaboration rather than engaging in public sparring over whose citizens are suffering less.

Favor As Higher Power?

(The hidden truth)

Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
