According to report by Nigerian Tribune on Saturday, May 9, 2026, The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Honourable Emmanuel Odiniya following allegations that he physically assaulted his daughter, Ilebaye Odiniya, popularly known as the winner of the 2023 edition of Big Brother Naija.
The incident became a major topic online after Ilebaye shared an emotional live video on social media during the early hours of Saturday. In the video, the reality TV star appeared visibly distressed as she cried and called for help. She also showed what appeared to be swelling on her face, triggering concern among fans and social media users.
The clip quickly circulated across different social media platforms, attracting widespread reactions from Nigerians who expressed shock and sympathy over the situation. Many users also called for authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly.
In a statement released to journalists, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, spoke on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi. According to the statement, the police received a distress report from Royal Anchor Estate in Wuye, Abuja, concerning the alleged assault.
The statement explained that immediately after the report was received, officers from the Wuye Police Division, alongside operatives from the Department of Operations of the FCT Police Command, were dispatched to the location. The Police Public Relations Officer was also present to supervise the operation.
Police authorities confirmed that the operation led to the arrest of Honourable Emmanuel Odiniya. They added that investigations into the incident are currently ongoing and further details would be made available as the case progresses.
