Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has reacted to remarks by a member of the House of Representatives, Leke Abejide, who described the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a “condemned vehicle.”

Abejide, who made the comment during an interview on TVC News, said he had decided to leave the party, likening it to a failing structure.

“ADC is a condemned vehicle. I have decided to change the broken bricks in the ADC and become a cornerstone in a better political party with a strong structure that will benefit my people,” he said at a separate news conference.

Reacting via his X handle, Onanuga appeared to endorse the lawmaker’s position while taking a swipe at opposition figures reportedly aligning with the ADC.

“No wonder the desperate political nomads, Peter Obi and others, are preparing to ‘Japa’ to another SPV,” he wrote.

His comment referenced Peter Obi and other opposition figures who have been linked with ongoing consultations within the ADC ahead of the next election cycle.

The exchange comes amid heightened political realignments following recent developments within the ADC, including the Supreme Court ruling on its leadership structure.

While Abejide’s remarks signal internal dissatisfaction within the party, Onanuga’s reaction underscores the growing political tension between the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and opposition groups positioning themselves ahead of future elections.
