Shehu Sani, a prominent human rights advocate and former senator representing Kaduna Central, has opened up about the difficulties he encountered during his time in political office. In a statement shared via his official X account, he revealed that he and his colleagues spent nearly four years accompanying their political leader to various court proceedings in Abuja.
The remarks were made in a post published on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, where he reflected on the legal and political pressures experienced while in power.
He referenced the situation involving Bukola Saraki, the former Senate President and ex-governor of Kwara State, who has recently been at the center of public attention following criticisms from AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
According to Sani, Saraki faced multiple allegations at the time, including forgery and criminal conspiracy, among other charges. He added that both he and Dino Melaye, a former senator from Kogi State, were also subjected to legal battles over related accusations.
