In a recent interview shared by Trust TV, ADC chieftain and former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, offered a personal perspective on the resignation of former Finance Minister Wale Edun, describing him as a man of integrity who was ultimately a misfit in the Tinubu administration.
Dalung, who shared a close working relationship with Edun during his time in government, said: “Wale Edun is my friend. When I was a minister, he used to visit me every day in my office. He is not someone I don’t know.”
The former minister said Edun is “one of the best Nigerians” but argued that his character was incompatible with the political environment he found himself in. Dalung suggested that Edun’s integrity was gradually being compromised, forcing him to step down.
“He is a very good Nigerian, but he is a misfit into a political arrangement like the one we have in place,” Dalung said, adding that Edun “tolerated it to the extent that his integrity was going to break and he had to throw the towel.”
While the government cited health grounds as the reason for Edun’s exit, Dalung was unconvinced, stating that “what we know is more than what they are trying to tell Nigerians.”
