According to a report on Vanguard News, President Bola Tinubu on Thursday said the opposition cannot scare him off, despite what he called a conspiracy ahead of the 2027 elections.
“They want to scare me off; it is a lie. I’ve been through this path before, and if I have to come back over and over and over again, I’ll do the same thing,” Tinubu said on Thursday while hosting the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Abuja.
Tinubu dared opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Nasir El-Rufai, telling them he will not give up. “I’m grateful to all of you. This is an opportunity of a lifetime to break the shackles of poverty and ignorance, to put freedom in the hearts of our people, and to ensure democracy survives—not the noise-making or the rascality of a street convention,” he said.
The president urged the opposition to obey the judiciary and submit to democratic principles. “We cannot submit to disobedience of a lawful order of the court. We must embrace the judiciary, whether it favours us or not,” Tinubu said.
He told the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to give Nigerians hope and build “one nation, one common vision for progress and prosperity”.
The comment comes as opposition parties, including the ADC, PDP factions, and Labour Party, hold coalition talks ahead of 2027.
