Honorable Leke Abejide, a lawmaker from Kogi State and member of the National Working Committee of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC), has claimed that the ADC kicked him out of the party after he publicly expressed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in advance of the 2027 elections.
The ADC leader stated in an interview with Channels TV that the party would not accept such behavior from any of its members. How can a man openly declare his support for another party’s presidential candidate and yet confidently assert that he is a member of the ADC? Is that not disgraceful? How can he endorse the APC’s candidate for president in 2027 while still being a member of the ADC?
Between the ADC and other political groups, Okonkwo made a clear difference. He said that the ADC was founded on unwavering party fidelity and charged him with allowing indiscipline.
By virtue of the party’s convention held yesterday, he confirmed that Abejide and others involved had already been formally expelled and announced that any member discovered participating in anti-party actions would be immediately expelled.
