A leader from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dan Ulasi, has linked the party’s internal issues to the events related to its presidential convention in 2023, while also discussing the differing political views among important members.
Ulasi shared these thoughts during an interview on Arise Television on Thursday, April 23, 2026, where the conversation revolved around the splits within the party and the behaviors of notable individuals, including the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
On the topic of political friendships and conflicts, Ulasi remarked, “What I mean is that being friends with someone does not mean agreement on everything.”
He refered to Wike’s choice to align with Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, mentioning that this had been clarified in previous discussions. “When he decided to support the government of Ahmed Tinubu, I later saw him when he explained his reasons. I have mentioned this in one of your interviews, that it stems from the issues of the 2023 convention we had at Eagle Square, where Wike could have been the PDP candidate.”
Ulasi also explained the series of occurrences during the convention, pointing out the role of former Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal, and how it affected the party’s cohesion.
“However, after indicating he would run for president, the former governor of Sokoto state then conspired, returning to announce at the convention that he would no longer run and urged all Northern delegates to back Atiku Abubakar, which marked the beginning of PDP’s crisis.”
He added, “That led to Wike returning to Port Harcourt and choosing to act on his own terms.”
In discussing the larger political environment, Ulasi noted the autonomy of individual players in the system. “While you may critique their actions as right or wrong, you cannot dictate their choices. He has reached a point in the political landscape where he holds an opinion, just as I do.”
He wrapped up by reflecting on the convention’s aftermath, saying, “What transpired at Eagle Square was unfortunate, and people interpret it in various ways.”
Favor As Higher Power?
(The hidden truth)
Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
