According to a report by London Evening Standard on Friday May 22, 2026, Former Arsenal goalkeeper Graham Stack has pointed out what he believes could be a major weakness in Paris Saint-Germain’s team ahead of their Champions League final clash with Arsenal.
Arsenal enter the final aiming to win the competition for the first time in their history, following another strong season under Mikel Arteta. The Gunners have developed into one of Europe’s most organised and dangerous sides, especially from set-piece situations.
Stack believes that area could be crucial against PSG, who have impressed this season with their attacking quality, balance, and defensive structure. However, he feels there is still a vulnerability Arsenal can target, particularly involving goalkeeper Matvey Safonov.
Safonov has been PSG’s first-choice keeper this season and has played an important role in their run to the final. Despite some strong performances in Europe, he has only recently established himself in the position and still faces scrutiny in high-pressure matches.
Speaking via Metro, Stack expressed doubts about the goalkeeper’s consistency, suggesting he has shown signs of uncertainty, especially when dealing with crosses and balls delivered into the penalty area.
He also believes Safonov may be prone to mistakes under pressure, describing him as a potential weak point that Arsenal should aggressively test during the final.
Stack added that Arsenal should focus heavily on set pieces, where they have been particularly strong throughout the season. Corners, free kicks, and wide deliveries have become a major attacking weapon for Arteta’s side.
Players such as Declan Rice, William Saliba, and Gabriel Magalhães have helped make Arsenal extremely dangerous in the air, giving them a clear advantage in dead-ball situations.
While PSG still boast elite attacking talent capable of deciding the match, Stack insists Arsenal’s best route to success is applying constant pressure on Safonov, especially during set plays and crosses into the box.
