According to a report by Al Jazeera English on Thursday May 28, 2026, Hezbollah has reportedly stepped up military operations against Israeli forces in southern Lebanon, with fresh strikes described by Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) as part of an ongoing escalation along the border region.
The group is said to have fired multiple rockets at a cluster of Israeli military vehicles reportedly positioned near a municipal building in al-Qussair, within the Marjayoun district close to the frontier. The incident comes amid continued exchanges of fire between both sides in the area.
In a separate development, Hezbollah allegedly launched missiles targeting a structure close to a water reservoir in Zawtar al-Sharqiyah. According to the group, the building was being used as a covert command post for Israeli armoured operations in the vicinity, although this claim has not been independently verified.
NNA further reported that a drone identified as an Ababil aircraft operated by Hezbollah struck an Israeli Merkava tank near the same area. The Israeli military has not yet issued any confirmation regarding the incident, including whether there were any casualties or material damage.
Additional reports from Lebanese media also indicated that drones were deployed toward Qantara, where an Israeli position was allegedly hit. These claims were described locally as direct impacts, though independent confirmation remains unavailable at this stage.
The latest developments form part of a broader pattern of intensified clashes between Hezbollah and Israeli forces along the southern Lebanon border. Both sides have increasingly relied on drones, missile systems, and artillery fire in recent weeks, contributing to a steadily worsening security situation.
