Chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chillie Igbawua, shared his thoughts in an interview with a Trust TV correspondent on the implications of Kano State political heavyweight, Alhaji Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, joining the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Reacting to comments by Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, who recently dismissed the ADC as a “toothless and spineless party” whose members supposedly lack “bone marrow and flesh to eat,” Igbawua expressed confidence and optimism about the party’s trajectory.
He explained, “Sometimes, we are happy when we realize that they don’t understand us, and that is why they keep chasing shadows. Even in areas where they have tried very hard to block the ADC, they eventually discover that their efforts were in vain because we had already moved ahead. And that is how it will continue until we capture power in 2027. We are pleased about that. If they truly knew what was brewing inside the ADC, they wouldn’t make such statements. But we’re glad they remain unaware.”
Igbawua’s remarks underscore the ADC’s strategy to expand its influence across Nigeria, despite criticism from political opponents. By highlighting the party’s ability to outmaneuver attempts to curb its growth, he emphasized a narrative of resilience and strategic foresight.
