During a recent news conference, the Honourable Leke Abejide made a major political announcement, calling it one of the most challenging decisions he has ever had to make.

Although he did not do it lightly, he feels he must now leave the African Democratic Congress (ADC) if he wants to ensure his political future. He claimed that the party’s internal dynamics were making it harder to stay on course.

He emphasised that his previous service to the ADC was based on a sincere desire to help the party develop and thrive. Nevertheless, he expressed his disappointment that certain persons’ recent acts had thwarted those endeavours, prompting him to withdraw. The party’s current course, according to Abejide, is at odds with the ideals in which he had faith and invested initially.

During his remarks, he gave the following statement: “Today, 1st May 2026, I Honourable Leke Abejide, it is a painful decision to leave ADC but necessary to save my political future from those who came to destroy my former political party, ADC, that I laboured hard to nurture.”
