The Federal Government has approved a 40 percent peculiar allowance increase for civil servants as part of a broader welfare reform aimed at improving remuneration and boosting productivity across the public service.
According to multiple verified reports from official briefings and policy disclosures, the approval affects workers under the Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure (CONPSS) and the Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure (CONRAISS), covering both junior and senior officers across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
The adjustment is part of a wider upward review of allowances, including Duty Tour Allowance (DTA), estacode, and book allowance, which have all been revised to reflect current economic realities and rising cost pressures.
Government officials, including the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, have explained that the reform is designed to enhance take-home pay, improve staff welfare, and strengthen efficiency in the civil service system.
