Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Hope Uzodimma, has stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is not threatened by the zoning arrangement and coalition moves by opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
His remarks follow the decision of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) to zone its presidential ticket to the South, a development that has generated political debate nationwide.
According to report by NIGERIAN TRIBUNE on Sunday, May 10, 2026, Uzodimma said some media narratives tend to exaggerate political tensions despite the realities on ground.
He maintained that the APC remains the dominant political force in the country, noting that it enjoys widespread support across most states, with about 31 out of Nigeria’s 36 states aligned with the party, which he said reflects strong national acceptance of the ruling party.
In his words, “In a country of 36 states, 31 are sufficiently transparent members of the All Progressives Congress. Look at that proportion. Nigeria has already spoken.”
