According to the Anadolu agency, a senior Iranian military commander has pledged that those blamed for the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader will face retaliation, underscoring Tehran’s increasingly defiant rhetoric as the country continues to hold mourning ceremonies and rally public support.
In a message released Friday, Major General Ali Abdollahi, commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said the grief felt across Iran would strengthen efforts to pursue those Iran holds responsible for the killing.
“I extend my condolences on the martyrdom of the leader of Muslims and free people around the world, Grand Ayatollah Imam Khamenei, to the Imam of the Age, the wise Leader of the Revolution, Grand Ayatollah Imam Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, and to the Islamic nation. In recent days, the world has witnessed the creation of an unparalleled and enduring epic in history.”
Abdollahi described the funeral ceremonies as a defining moment for Iran and its supporters, saying, “The funeral and farewell ceremonies for the martyred Imam of the Ummah will be remembered as a symbol and manifestation of grandeur, insight, faith, struggle, and resistance in the collective memory of humanity.”
His statement repeatedly emphasized that calls for accountability would not diminish. “This sacred grief and anger will continue along the path of seeking justice against the killers of the martyred Leader of Muslims and free people around the world, as well as the victims of the second and third imposed wars, and will ultimately bring those responsible to account for their actions.”
The commander also thanked Iranians, Iraqi officials and armed forces, what he described as “fighters of Islam,” and supporters worldwide for participating in the funeral ceremonies, saying their presence reflected solidarity with Iran’s leadership.
Abdollahi argued that the large turnout carried political significance beyond mourning. “The unprecedented presence of the Islamic Ummah was more than a farewell ceremony; it was a powerful call for justice and a repudiation of the plans of the world’s arrogant powers, clearly distinguishing truth from falsehood. This human mobilization reflects the deep bond between the will of awakened nations and the exalted path of martyrdom.”
He also issued a warning directed at Iran’s adversaries, stating, “The world and the leaders of global disbelief and arrogance, especially the criminal United States and the sinister Zionist regime, must not mistake the sorrow in the eyes of the people and the outcry born of this grief for weakness.”
Reiterating his earlier message, Abdollahi said, “This sacred mourning and anger will continue on the path of seeking retribution against the killers of the martyred leader of Muslims and free people around the world, as well as the innocent victims of the second and third imposed wars, and will ultimately bring them to justice.”
He concluded by signaling that Iran’s armed forces would continue to respond. “The brave sons of the nation serving in the armed forces, relying on God Almighty and with the support of Muslim and freedom-seeking peoples, will take revolutionary action, deprive the enemy of peace of mind, and, sooner or later, exact retribution from those responsible for these terrorist crimes.”
