According to report by Nigerian Tribune on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has cautioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu against being overly confident about securing a second term in 2027, warning that his re-election is far from guaranteed.
In a statement released by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, the cleric described the president’s chances as uncertain, claiming that individuals within his inner circle are misleading him and preventing him from recognizing the realities ahead.
According to Ayodele, Tinubu is being “spiritually blinded” by those who constantly praise him, making it difficult for him to assess the true state of the nation and his political standing.
He emphasized that Nigeria’s worsening insecurity and struggling economy require urgent attention and what he termed divine intervention.
Ayodele warned that if the president continues to rely on dishonest advisers, he may only realize the seriousness of the situation after the election, when it could be too late to make meaningful changes.
The cleric added that although Tinubu has the potential to win a second term, the influence of insincere allies could create serious obstacles.
He alleged that some individuals around the president are deceptive and may ultimately contribute to complications in his political journey.
Ayodele also pointed out that the northern and southeastern regions of the country could pose significant challenges to Tinubu’s re-election bid, noting that support from these areas remains uncertain.
He expressed doubt about whether these issues can be easily resolved before the election.
Furthermore, he urged Nigerians to seek divine guidance to ensure a peaceful and credible electoral process in 2027.
While acknowledging that Tinubu may have good intentions for the country, Ayodele insisted that negative influences surrounding him are limiting his ability to make clear and effective decisions.
